Nanny Traci's Babysitting Service is owned and operated by Traci Childs (Nanny Traci). A 34 year old California native, she moved to the Myrtle Beach area in the Fall of 2002. Her time in Myrtle Beach has solidified her passion for working with children. She has over 20 years of child care experience including professional nanny, babysitter, mother's helper, volunteer, and business owner. She is currently in the process of earning a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition to her degree courses, she's completed courses in SIDS prevention, infant care, ABA therapy, understanding autism, and she is CPR, First Aid, and AED certified. Her experience includes children on the autistic spectrum, physical disabilities, ADD, ADHD, and OCD. It is her goal to continuously learn through the experience of working with many different families. We live locally and/or are on vacation and we're considering booking one of your nannies for the evening; what can my children expect during their time with the nanny?
Our child care philosophy is structured fun! This means that we maintain your child's normal routine such as set meal times and bedtimes. We then incorporate tons of fun through the use of crafts, games, books, and interactive imaginative play! It is our goal to establish a routine with your child that is a combination of your guidelines and our professional fun. To accomplish this, we regularly research new games, crafts, and activities to keep things "fresh" for your child!
I own a timeshare in Myrtle Beach, why was I quoted a price as though I am a vacationer? Please note that local rates are available for those who live here year around - while we are aware that some people do live year around in resort style properties, typically local's rates will not be offered to customers who are staying in resort style properties.
My child is 18 years old and is on the autistic spectrum, can you please tell me more about your Buddy Services? First and foremost, it is important to note that we are not professionals in the area of special needs. However, we work with many families whose children are on the spectrum, therefore our company specifically looks for nannies who have been college educated in the area of special needs or who have life-experience in this area. We understand how emotionally time consuming it can be caring for a child with ASD. Our hope is to provide respite at a reasonable rate.
Are there any requirements for Buddy Services? Your child must be between the ages of 14-25 (younger than that would be regular nanny services charged at either local or vacationer rate). You must be willing to sign an additional waiver. Your child must be able to use the restroom on their own. Your child must be non-violent (we understand that tourettes and autism can both include flailing, verbal outbursts, or frustrations that need to be "talked down" this is okay and in most cases our nannies handle these situations beautifully with no need for ending the day early - but for insurance purposes we cannot work with children who have a history of physical violence.
Do you primarily cater to older children?
Not at all! We have extensive experience with children ranging from newborn to teenagers! The type of care and activities varies depending on the child's age and interests. For example, a pre-teen girl may enjoy making picture frames, while a pre-teen boy may enjoy a video came competition! A younger child may enjoy board games or t-shirt decorating. An infant may enjoy being read to, singing songs, or simply being rocked. No matter what your child's age, their needs will be met and their interests will be nurtured!
How do you handle discipline issues?
We believe that children thrive from understanding boundaries and having the freedom to make choices within those boundaries. We develop this process from day one in the child-nanny relationship by focusing primarily on positive reinforcement while maintaining a structured routine. In the rare event that a child does need to be disciplined, we use a warning and time out system. Your child will never be disciplined physically, and you will always be made aware if there was a behavioral concern during our time with your child.

My child has separation anxiety, how will this be handled?
Separation anxiety is normal - especially for children between 18 and 27 months old. We encourage parents to mentally prepare their little one for the nanny's arrival. Positively reference the nanny and tell your child about the fun things that the nanny will be doing with them. Upon the nanny's arrival allow the child to accompany the nanny and yourself as you go over your child's routine. The nanny will engage your child in an activity... you're welcome to begin participating in this activity to help assist your child in trusting the nanny. Once your child is actively engaged it is a good idea to say your goodbyes. A quick "I love you" and "I'll see you soon" is usually best. Your child may cry, but don't worry - we have many ways to distract and calm children. Most children who cry at their parent's departure, often calm within 5 minutes. In the event that your child cries non-stop for an extended amount of time and cannot be consoled, soothed, or distracted, we will call you in order to avoid any long-term emotional distress for your child.
What types of payment do you accept?
We primarily use an invoicing system which can be paid via credit card or debit card (we do not keep your information on file). Nannies do not accept payments for balances, so if you need to pay in another form, please communicate with us prior to your booking.
I'm a local. Why should I pay your rates when I can pay for my friend's daughter to watch my children for half of the price? Besides, my child is just going to play on their iPad the entire evening anyway...
The average babysitter is likely to take care of your child's basic physical needs, watch a movie with them, and (hopefully) put them to bed. When you book through Nanny Traci's Babysitting Service, you are hiring a professional. Our nannies range from 18-45 years old. The majority of our nannies are in their mid-20's and up. All nannies are either in college or have completed college, CPR trained/certified, background checked, and have a minimum of 5 years of experience with children. In addition, many of our nannies are experienced with a variety of special needs and maintain other credentials (see "Meet our Nannies" for information on individual nannies). Our experienced nannies have worked with children of all ages. It is our goal to engage your child and limit or eliminate screen time in a fun and positive way. A typical evening in our care consists of (but is not limited to), cooking / preparing dinner for your children, participating in crafts, games, books, and interactive activities...overseeing a peaceful bedtime which includes stories / music / sitting with your child if needed, and overall creating a fun and peaceful experience for your children.

Nanny Traci's Babysitting Service takes great care in choosing the best of the best! Our nannies have backgrounds in areas including the medical field, professional nanny, the educational field, and law enforcement. Our nannies are CPR trained/certified, college educated, experienced, and have a genuine love for working with children. We check references, credentials, provide background checks, and take a genuine interest in getting to know who our nannies are. We highly value customer feedback as this helps us to determine whether a nanny is living up to the Nanny Traci's Babysitting Service reputation. We fully support and encourage families confirming our company's findings.
Do you offer any discounts?
We offer a 10% military discount (please mention this at booking). Additionally we occasionally provide discounts to our locals who subscribe to our mailing list. NOTE: Military discounts are not applicable for military event bookings as we already apply a discount to the overall price.
Can we request a specific nanny?
Yes! Please feel free to request a specific nanny when you contact us to book. Although we can never 100% guarantee a specific nanny, we will do our best to accomodate specific requests! We strongly encourage families to try multiple nannies and pick 2 or 3 that their children feel most comfortable with. This allows us to be able to best accomodate you, specifically during busier seasons.
Are there any terms or conditions set in place for the client and/or company for individualized?
We require a minimum of 3 hours per booking. In the event that a sitter is needed for less than 3 hours, Nanny Traci's Babysitting Service reserves the right to charge at the 3 hour minimum. Holidays, busy weekends, and same day bookings may require a 5 hour minimum to book *per company's discretion...minimums are put in place per the company's discretion. Due to the high demand for our services and the amount of families turned away for every booking we accept, please note that cancellation terms & conditions apply to all holiday bookings.
VACATIONERS: a non-refundable retainer in the amount of the 3-5 hour minimum (dependent upon time of year) will be charged at the time of booking; this amount will be deducted from your total and the difference will be billed after services are rendered with payment being required within 72 hours.
Cancellations (locals & vacationers): We recognize that cancellations rarely happen under positive circumstances. However, as a business we unfortunately must have cancellation policies in place due to the loss of income (not only from you, but from customers who were turned away), the nanny's time (as she has set aside the time for your booking), and supplies. All bookings require a 3 hour non-refundable retainer which is required to confirm booking. In the event of cancellation at any time, this becomes your cancellation fee. *As of September 1st, 2017, established customers (those who have used us regularly for a period of time, will only be required to pay a $30 cancellation fee as opposed to the $45 fee that is applied when paying the retainer.
OVERNIGHT CARE: Cancellations for overnight care may be made at any time. Cancellations made within 14 days of overnight care will result in a charge of 1 night ($150). Cancellations made prior to the 14 day period will receive a 50% refund. Additional surcharges up to $75 may apply for short notice overnight bookings (within one week of time needed) for overnight bookings during busy weekends in the summer or overnight bookings that fall on holidays.
WEDDINGS & EVENTS: A non-refundable retainer in the amount of 50% of your total is due upon signing your contract. Event cancellation policies vary, so please review your contract for further details.
Cancellations by the company (for individualized care): We are a small business - committed to quality care and customer service. While we do our best to accommodate requests for specific sitters, circumstances don't always allow for such. In the event that a specifically booked nanny becomes unavailable, the following events will take place: 1) We will notify the family. 2) We will offer the family an alternate nanny. 3) In the event that you "okay" the alternate nanny; we will schedule her and you'll receive the same level of quality care as you typically would. 4) A family always has the right to accept or refuse an alternative nanny; should the family refuse the alternate nanny, this is considered a cancellation by the family and the retainer remains nonrefundable. 5) Because local families are not always required to pay a retainer once a relationship is established if they are unhappy with a cancellation by the company, we will do our best to maintain a positive relationship through means of a discount on future services.
Are there any waivers or forms we have to fill out? Yes. Upon booking you will fill out a registration form. It is up to you, the parent, to provide accurate and detailed information about your child's needs and routine. At the end of the form, there is a waiver which we require to be signed in order for us to agree to service.... Terms of Service I, the undersigned, am the parent of the above named child/children and agree, in taking advantage of nanny services, to release and hold harmless Nanny Traci’s Babysitting Service, its agents, contractors, employees, and volunteers from any and all claims, demands, suits, costs, and charges in connection with or arising out of the nanny service provided; including, but not limited to, bodily harm or injury to our children or property, except only for loss, harms, damage or injury occasioned by gross negligence or intentional misconduct by Nanny Traci’s Babysitting Service, it’s agents, contractors, employees, or volunteers. I recognize that measures are taken to keep my child safe, therefore it is up to the nanny & the company do determine what activities are acceptable during their time with my child. I understand that nannies typically provide all care in the room and limit activities such as swimming to one on one scenarios with prior written consent. I recognize that Nanny Traci’s Babysitting Service, its employees, agents, contractors, and volunteers reserve the right to call me to return early in the event that my child is disrespectful, displays uncontrollable behavior, or puts his/herself in physical danger. In the event that I must return early due to my child’s conduct, I agree to hold harmless Nanny Traci’s Babysitting Service and its employees, contractors, agents, or volunteers and agree to take no further legal action that I must return for such matters. I hereby grant permission for Nanny Traci’s Babysitting Service and its contractors full authority to take whatever actions they deem necessary regarding my child’s health and safety in the event I cannot be reached or in a situation where time is of the essence; and fully release Nanny Traci’s Babysitting Service and it’s contractors from any liability in connection with those decisions, I grant permission for emergency treatment by a rescue squad, private physician and/or hospital or emergency health care facility staff if needed. Any such action will be taken in the best interest of my child and will be reported to me as soon as possible.
Additional waivers are required to be signed prior to the nanny's arrival in instances where a family wants the nanny to take the children swimming or to drive children between locations. Please note that we do NOT take children to the beach.
